Missouri River—Montana
July 13-17th and July 18-22nd 2027
The Mighty Missouri & The Land of Giants
The Missouri River—known affectionately in the fly fishing world as the MO—is a western trout fishing legend. Flowing below Holter Dam and through the iconic town of Craig (which boasts three fly shops, two bars, and a tap house), it’s the kind of place that screams fly fishing paradise.
With up to 5,500 trout per mile, many measuring 16 inches or better, few rivers can match the MO’s combination of density, size, and scenery. Whether you’re drifting PMDs to risers, nymphing foam lines and seams, or chucking big nasty streamers to aggressive browns and rainbows, this river delivers.
July on the Missouri is dry fly season at its finest—steady flows, reliable hatches, and opportunities galore. From caddis and PMDs to hoppers and technical tricos, mid-summer brings a full buffet of bug activity. This is when the MO shows all its cards—and it’s often a full house.
The last two years, we’ve ventured beyond Holter Dam—across the lake and deep into the canyon. What we discovered above Holter Reservoir blew us away: the Land of Giants.
Towering cliffs. Wild, untouched beauty. And truly massive trout. This is next-level fly fishing. These powerful rainbows and browns will test your reel, your gear, and your fish-fighting skills as they pull hard and refuse to give up.
This isn’t your typical day on the Missouri. It’s a remote, wild experience where every bend in the canyon brings the possibility of a fish you’ll remember for a lifetime. The scenery is incredible, the water is special, and the trout are the kind that make you stop and appreciate just how special land of the giants is.
We’re excited to take you into the Land of Giants and experience this incredible stretch of the Missouri together.
