Where We Like to Eat - Redding, CA
One of the questions we get all the time is, “Where should we eat tonight?”
Redding has some great options, and where we send you really depends on what you're looking for. Maybe you want to stay close to the hotel, grab a great steak, find a good bottle of wine, or just have a casual place to hang out after a day on the water.
These are places we actually go and places we're comfortable recommending to our guests.
Located at the Sheraton, Mosaic is a great option and lets you keep everybody on campus for the evening. It's especially convenient after a long day of fishing when nobody really wants to get back in the car and head across town.
Best for: Keeping the group together, an easy dinner after fishing, and Sheraton guests.
Pipeline is always a great option. Think elevated pub fare with a really good beer and wine program. It's casual enough to walk into after a day on the river but still feels like you're going somewhere for dinner.
And if you like wine, the wine list is killer.
Best for: Casual dinners, elevated pub fare, beer, and especially wine.
530 Tip: Wine drinkers should spend a little time with the wine list. It's one of the reasons we keep coming back.
Jack's is a Redding classic. It's an old-school steakhouse and one of those places that has been part of the Redding food scene forever. They don't take reservations, so you may have to wait, but they have a great bar and there's usually some seating outside where you can hang out until your table is ready.
Best for: A classic Redding steakhouse experience and a good night at the bar.
530 Tip: Don't be scared off by a wait. Grab a drink and enjoy the bar or outside seating until they can get you in.
Blade & Barrel is one of the nicer dinner options downtown. It's definitely on the pricier side, but they do a good job and they take reservations, which makes planning dinner for a group a lot easier.
They also have a cool whiskey lounge attached that's worth checking out before or after dinner.
Best for: A nicer dinner, groups, date night, and anyone who appreciates a good whiskey.
530 Tip: Make a reservation and give yourself some extra time to have a drink in the whiskey lounge.
Karline's does a really good job with Italian-American cuisine and is another dependable choice when you're looking for a proper sit-down dinner.
They take reservations, have a full bar, a great wine selection, and some killer desserts. It's an easy restaurant for us to recommend because there's usually something on the menu for everyone.
Best for: Groups, Italian-American food, wine, and a full dinner from cocktails through dessert.
530 Tip: Save room for dessert.
Lucente is a newer Italian restaurant located at the Holiday Inn, but don't let the hotel location fool you. They did a great job with the décor and atmosphere, and it certainly doesn't come across as your typical hotel restaurant.
There's a full bar, although we'd consider the wine selection fairly limited compared with some of our other favorites.
Best for: Italian food, cocktails, and a nicer dinner in a great-looking space.
Redding Public Market is less about a traditional sit-down dinner and more about having a place to grab a drink, find something to eat, and hang out for a while.
One of our favorite stops inside is Little By Little, a small wine bar with sommelier Jacqueline behind the selections. Seating is limited, and they offer appetizers to enjoy with your wine.
You'll also find the Fall River Brewing taproom, a full bar, and several other eateries throughout the market. It's a great option when everyone wants something a little different or when you're looking for a casual place to hang out after fishing.
Best for: Wine, beer, full bar, appetizers, pizza, smash burgers, live music some nights, and a casual night out.
530 Tip: If you're into wine, grab a seat at Little By Little and let Jacqueline and her team help you pick a bottle.
